Les Caves du Louvre, the place dedicated to wine in Paris

Immerse yourself in the history of the Caves du Louvre and let yourself be seduced by this unique experience in the heart of Paris's 1st arrondissement. This private mansion was built by André Eynaud. A great Parisian bourgeois, he was one of the twenty-five privileged wine merchants at the court of King Louis XV.

Later, the Hôtel Eynaud was bought by Jacques-François Trudon, heir to the Royal waxworks, which produced the candles used for domestic lighting in the Louvre and Versailles palaces. Jacques-François then set up a grocery store selling wine, which operated the cellars until very recently.

A DISCOVERY OF FRENCH CULTURE THROUGH OUR WINE TASTINGS!

Dive into the history of Les Caves du Louvre and let yourself be captivated by this unique experience in the heart of Paris’s 1st arrondissement.

This private mansion was built by André Eynaud, a prominent Parisian bourgeois and one of the twenty-five wine merchants granted exclusive access to the court of King Louis XV. The cellars extended through underground tunnels all the way to the Louvre Palace and, as the story goes, allowed wine to be delivered discreetly to the royal residence…

Later on, the Hôtel Eynaud was acquired by Jacques-François Trudon, heir to the Royal Wax Manufactories, which produced the candles used to light the royal palaces of the Louvre and Versailles. Jacques-François went on to open a grocery shop selling wine, operating these very cellars until quite recently.
